Privacy Policy

Maasinta Ai is a product of Supa Maasai Foundation. It helps members of the Maa community record where they belong — tribe, region, sub tribe, clan, sub-clan, and family — and stay connected with one another.

Supa Maasai Foundation is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. It applies to the Maasinta website, the installable web app, and the mobile app.

We only collect what the community features need:

• Account details — your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google.
• Profile details — display name, optional username, gender, birthdate, phone number, preferred language, and profile photo.
• Community placement — the tribe, region, sub tribe, clan, sub-clan, and family you choose, and the bonds you share with other members.
• What you share — messages, group chats, stories, photos, voice notes, stickers, and other media you send or post.
• Device and usage details — when you were last active, notification subscriptions for your devices, and technical logs we use to keep the service running and fix errors.

• To create and secure your account, and to verify your email address.
• To place you within the community structure and help relatives and clan members find you.
• To show whether two members share an Olmishire (sub-clan), which guides the marriage custom.
• To deliver messages, stories, and notifications you have asked for.
• To send a birthday greeting from the Foundation, only if you opt in.
• To protect members from abuse, duplicate accounts, and misuse.
• To maintain, improve, and troubleshoot Maasinta.

Your display name, photo, username, and community placement are visible to other members so that belonging can be found. Your birthdate is never shown — only your age, and only if you choose to make it public.

You decide who may message you and who is told about your birthday. If you share your profile link, anyone with that link can see your public profile card.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us run Maasinta:

• Supabase — account sign-in and the database that stores your profile and messages.
• Google — if you choose to sign in with Google, and for email delivery.
• Cloudinary — storing and delivering photos and media.
• Web push services — your browser or phone maker delivers notifications to your device.
• Vercel — hosting the website and app.

Administrators appointed by the Foundation can see member records within the part of the community they look after, so they can keep the structure accurate. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Maasinta stores your sign-in session, theme choice, and a copy of recently loaded screens on your device so the app opens quickly and works offline. This copy is wiped when you sign out or switch accounts. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When an account is deleted, we remove its profile, placement, and media, except where we must keep records to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute.

You can, at any time:

• View and edit your profile and community placement in the app.
• Hide your age, turn birthday emails off, and choose who may message you.
• Turn notifications off in the app or in your device settings.
• Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account.

These rights are protected under the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya. To make a request, write to saitotinjapit2@gmail.com.

We use encrypted connections, access rules that limit each member to their own private data, and restricted administrator access. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private and tell us promptly if you suspect misuse of your account.

Maasinta is intended for people aged 13 and over. Families may be recorded together, but a child under 18 should only hold an account with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has shared information without that consent, contact us and we will remove it.

We may update this policy as Maasinta grows. When changes are significant, we will let members know in the app or by email. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
